Welcome to IRIS! This site lists thousands of U.S. Internships & Residencies in all medical & surgical specialties, many with online program information and website links. We also offer an Information Request Service - as a member, you can click on all the programs you're interested in so they can send you more information. (No more postcards or phonecalls!)
Frequently asked question:
My specialty uses ERAS, so why join IRIS?
You still need to make an informed decision about what programs to apply to through ERAS, since ERAS charges you for each application. Also, it would be a mistake to go into an interview without at least having read the program's brochure. The brochure may also help you generate intelligent questions to ask your interviewer. In short, IRIS helps you easily gather the necessary information for the pre-application and interview processes. For information about apprenticeships visit real work real pay info site.
I can use FREIDA, so why join IRIS?
FREIDA provides some useful information and we recommend checking it out. However, with FREIDA, you still need to write out a postcard (or make a phonecall) to every program you are interested in, since the info on FREIDA is not adequate to replace a brochure. If you are a dues-paying AMA member, FREIDA will also send you program mailing labels, but you still have to stick them on postcards, write a little note on each one, and pay the postage. IRIS saves you all the work and does so at a lower cost.
